Year 6

Term 3 Remote Learning

Students have been undertaking online learning since the beginning of this term – accessing One Note to receive their daily classroom tasks. Each student has access to this program and their work is completed on their own page and seen by their classroom teacher. Below are some websites which students can access from home during remote learning.

EAL, Transition and New Arrival students are still working through paper packs – however they still have access to online Webex meetings which allows them the opportunity to see and speak with the students in their grade.

Weekly Webex meetings are an important time for all students to reconnect with their peers and teacher and we encourage parents to ensure that your child does not miss these opportunities.

Even though we are online - it is important that children continue to have a daily routine. Beginning the day with a morning email to their classroom teacher to indicate their attendance. It is also important the children complete all of the tasks set for the day. Children are expected to complete 20 minutes of reading daily using either books they have borrowed from school, or through their daily access to Epic.

Mr Fenby the PE teacher sends through physical activity tasks once daily and it is important that children continue to undertake these movement tasks daily.

Once a week, children have to complete Art, ICT, Library and Mindfulness tasks – which are aimed at engaging children in their learning whilst at home.

The Year 6 SOSE theme is Natural Disasters and children will be learning about the different disasters which can occur. During this time, children will be asked to complete an online project which focuses on a Natural Disaster of their choice. Research skills will need to be employed to complete a presentation on their chosen disaster.

Together we can continue to support our students during this time.
