As a school that uses the ‘Talk for Writing’ process, we place emphasis on children learning to orally retell different types of texts using story maps and actions. We encourage the children to use expression in their retells and we use these models to create class and independent innovations. Parents can help their children learn the text maps at home, in preparation for their own writing. 

The table below shows the text types we will be learning this year. Please download the relevant story map from Seesaw and practise retelling them. Encourage your child to retell the texts with actions and expression.
