Self Esteem Program
At Dandenong North Primary we believe that a student’s positive self esteem is crucial to academic achievement, and we offer a holistic approach to student learning through our extensive self esteem program. We foster an environment in which our students have respect for themselves and others and we encourage children to take responsibility for their behaviour. We celebrate student success in all its forms as every child’s journey is unique. We strongly believe in the mantra of catching children when they are displaying the correct behaviour and celebrating this. Increasing a child’s self esteem, encourages them to continue to exhibit positive behaviours.
School Pledge
I will do all I can to make sure that Dandenong North Primary School remains a Great School.I will try my hardest to follow the 4Cs to keep our school a safe and happy place.I promise to treat others as I would like to be treated.
Student of the Week Award
Each week a student is chosen from each class to be the student of the week. They are presented with their award at Monday's assembly. Teachers select students to receive this award if they have demonstrated that they follow our school values of care, courtesy, commonsense and cooperation throughout the previous week.
School Spirit Award
This is a special award that is presented at the end of each term during a morning assembly. Each teacher chooses a student who has shown outstanding dedication to their learning throughout the term and demonstrated our school values of care, courtesy, commonsense and cooperation.
A child is then selected to be the overall “winner” for each year level and they receive a trophy and a poster of them and their award is displayed.
Badges
Badges are an integral part of the self esteem program. Badges are awarded to students who display good behaviour and follow the 4Cs as encouragement for working hard.At each assembly students with badges are asked to stand up and two winning numbers are chosen. The lucky students with that number of badges get to choose from a range of prizes.
